The Guardianship Unit operates on behalf of the Guardianship Committee, which is a municipal supervisory authority. The authority ensures that individuals who cannot assert their rights due to illness and similar circumstances are given the same rights as everyone else and are not disadvantaged economically or legally. The unit's mission is to supervise and control guardianship, trusteeship, and administration through annual reviews and to make decisions regarding consent for various actions that representatives need to perform in their duties. The operations of the Guardianship Authority and the representatives' assignments are regulated by the Parental Code. To read more, click here.
In the summer of 2026, new legislation will be introduced in the guardianship area. This means that the Guardianship Unit will have an expanded and more complex mission, including taking over cases currently handled by the district courts. This is a significant change that will affect both working methods and responsibilities.
For those applying for the position, this means becoming part of a developing organization, where we together build new routines and processes to meet the requirements of the legislation. You will have the opportunity to contribute your expertise and help shape the future of guardianship operations.
The Guardianship Unit handles cases for the municipalities of Nacka, Värmdö, and Vaxholm. The unit has 11 employees, including a team leader and a unit manager.
